For the fourth year, our principal agent Kate joined over 1,000 independent agents from across the country who traveled to the nation’s capital for the annual legislative conference. With congressional hearings on Capitol Hill, they met with lawmakers about issues that are important to our clients and fellow small business owners. Kate was one of thirty IA&B members who took their message to Washington, D.C. discussing five top issues with federal lawmakers.
This year’s conference focused on these five issues facing independent agents:
- Legal Reform – asking Congress to take action to curb abusive litigation practices that drive up insurance costs
- Disaster Mitigation – Congress should advance smart, proactive mitigation policies to protect homeowners and reduce long-term federal disaster costs
- Flood Insurance – Congress should act to protect certainty and stability by reauthorizing and modernizing the NFIP before its upcoming September 30 expiration
- Terrorism Risk – Congress should act swiftly to pass a clean, long-term extension of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA)
- Health Care – Congress should act decisively to strengthen and modernize America’s health care system by protecting employer-sponsored coverage, advancing meaningful price transparency, and expanding access to telehealth
