Courtney Wolfe walked through the doors to FDIG like a breath of fresh air, bringing her excellence in customer service.  With many years of customer experience in a multitude of industries, her love for learning and client satisfaction made her a perfect fit for our team.  Her resume was so impressive that we created a role just for her!

We’re taking this opportunity to introduce you to Courtney and explain what motivated her to dive into the world of insurance.

What interested you in this position with FDIG?

I had never considered a job in insurance, but after talking to Kate it just made sense. I enjoy helping people and working with others, and customer service has always come naturally to me. When I interviewed, it was immediately apparent that my values and FDIG’s values were aligned. Simply put, I just got great vibes. I’m glad to say that my intuition was correct!

Tell us about your experience joining and getting familiar with FDIG.

I’ve most enjoyed learning the ins and outs of insurance. I was very new to the industry with very little knowledge about policies and coverage. There is so much to learn, and the more information we have, the better we can help our clients. I love that about this job. Providing information and coverage to our clients and being able to give them some peace of mind is a great feeling. I’m proud of how much I’ve learned about insurance in the time since I joined FDIG. It’s a wonderful environment to introduce me to the industry.

How has your introduction to insurance opened your eyes?

Getting to know the insurance industry has really opened my eyes to why working with an independent agent is so important. Reviewing coverage, I’ve found there are so many people overpaying for lackluster coverage. A broker’s job is to find the best coverage for the lowest price. Our focus is about helping the client. Being able to provide our clients with better coverage and save them money, now that’s exciting! I never expected to get excited about insurance.

Tell us about the first-hand view you’ve had when we reviewed your own personal coverage

I’ve personally been unknowingly overpaying for auto insurance for over a year due to a mistake on the carrier’s end. As someone previously unfamiliar with insurance lingo, I’m not sure that I would have caught it on my own. When I moved my policy over to FDIG, it was caught immediately. We can’t all be experts in everything, which is why brokers are so important! It’s our job to know the coverage and guide you to the best policies.

Looking ahead, what is next for you in the industry?

I’m getting settled and familiarizing myself with our clients, which I have enjoyed. It came clear early on that I could bring more value to our clients with the knowledge earned by obtaining my insurance license. Working towards my Property & Casualty license feels like the logical next step for me. This spring I enrolled in Insurance Agents & Broker’s ICCP course. I’m excited to dive deeper into the insurance industry and learn all I can. Obtaining my license will allow me to get more involved in all processes for our clients. I’m looking forward to being able to do more and explore the many avenues of the insurance world.

What are you most looking forward to contributing to FDIG

I just hope that people feel welcome when they come into the office or call in to talk with us. That’s what I strive for. I know how nerve-wracking topics like insurance can be for people, but I’m happy to have joined a company where the #1 goal is to help the client. Not only are we here for our customers, but we are only here because of our customers. People first, always. One focus for my role is community outreach. We’re building relationships with multiple charities throughout the year to make a greater impact in the community. There’s a lot to look forward to.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

As the mother of an infant and teenager, most of my time out of the office is spent with my husband and kids. As cliché as it sounds, being a mom is my favorite thing to be. It’s my hardest job, but I love it, and I love my kids more than anything. I also have an appreciation for live performance of any kind. Musicals are my favorite! I also LOVE history. I spend a lot of time reading books, watching videos, and listening to podcasts about different historical events or time periods. I cycle through different crafts often, crochet, cross-stitch, painting, needle felting. I’m a jack of all trades and a master of absolutely none of them.
